About Us
The Village Shop was orginally 3 shops over the years it has been joined into one. Originally known as 'Gaddes' and in the 1980's as Central Stores due to it's location in the heart of the village it was changed to The Village Shop by it's current owners Tom & Gloria Williams together with their son Joe they manage the store.
We are actively involved in ensuring that village shops, rural communities and services survive and are retained.
Gloria is a director of the Rural Shops Alliance.
Tom is a member of the retail forum with Camelot to ensure that the interests of independent shops are communicated.
Joe is also Part Time Firefighter based at the village fire station and Chair of Governors for the primary school.
Select & Save @ The Village Shop
The Village Shop is part of Select & Save group which together with Nisa - Todays we are able to offer a wide range of goods and services to the community of Hook Norton and surrounding areas. Being part of this group we able to offer fanatastic promotions on every day products which enables us to compete with the major multiples. Hence on our sign it Says 'Select & Save @ The Village Shop' We still like to retain our independence
Sourcing Products Locally
Whilst we stock all major lines we still source products from local & independent businesses. Including Brown's Original Banbury Cakes, Cream from Upper Norton, Cheeses from Fowlers of Earlswood, Meats & Fresh Sausages from Fulwell Foods, Fish from Hellaby Foods, Honey from local producers, Homemade Cakes made by Victoria Taylor & Fatherson Bakery, local jams and chutneys and fresh meat from the Meat Joint.
Supporting The Community
We actively support our local community in variety of ways inparticular we sponsor our village Football & Cricket teams with their after match catering, support & sell tickets for the villages annual music festival Music @ The Crossroads, provide raffle prizes for our primary school and other local good causes
